Elgin, and traveled the Oregon Trail in 1852 to Clackamas County, OR. Emerine Jane S. Elgin was the daughter of Frederick Elgin (1772-1827) and Catherine Perry (1789-1825) Emerine J.S.Elgin was the younger sister of Mary Elgin Mary Elgin (1793-1825) was the second wife of James McCormick (1790-1861) They had Mary Ann McCormick (1819-1899) who married John Ransdell Bourn (1803-1875) They had Margaret Emerine Bourn (1849-1939) who married James Harvey Crawford (1845-1930) James McCormick and son Elgin McCormick accompanied sister-in-law / aunt Emerine J.S. Elgin Worsham and family to Oregon. Robert Nicholas Worsham came to Oregon from KY in the 1852 wagon train, arriving in October 1852 and settling a land claim on 1 November 1852. Affiants on land claim were William Holmes, Isaac G. McCormick, Timothy Gard, Loren D. Kirk. From Lulita Pritchett letter reporting Margaret Emerine Bourn comments: [James McCormick] Went to Oregon in the spring of 1851 [note-1852] with son Elgin McCormick, aunt Emerine Washam [note-Worsham] and uncle Washam [note-Robert Nicholas Worsham], (Washam children were Emily, Virginia, a boy and one other). [note-Juliet Elizabeth Worsham, Robert W. Worsham, Virginia F. Worsham, Emerine J. Worsham, Lewis L. Worsham, and Thomas P. Worsham, who was born in KY in 1851. Other siblings born in OR.] Later, when gold fever broke out, James McCormick and Elgin McCormick went from OR to CA. Elgin went across the plains 3 different times and came back by water around the Horn twice. Brought us the first oranges and shells we had ever seen.
